Warranty and wardrobe care

What the statutory guarantee covers, what the hardware maker guarantees, how to raise a complaint, and how to look after a wardrobe so it still works in ten years.

A fitted wardrobe is meant to last decades. This page sets out what the warranty covers, who to contact when something is not right, and what you can do yourself so that day comes as late as possible.

The statutory guarantee of conformity

All our products carry the statutory guarantee of conformity under the Slovenian Consumer Protection Act (ZVPot-1), which for consumers ordinarily runs for 24 months. This is not a voluntary warranty but your legal right: where a product does not conform to the contract you may seek repair, replacement, a price reduction or withdrawal, on the conditions the law sets.

The binding text is in the Terms of Use, under the warranty clause.

The hardware maker's guarantee

Fitted hardware (Blum, Hettich, Häfele) is covered by that manufacturer's own guarantee programme. The manufacturer sets its term and conditions, so we state them on the warranty sheet for the exact hardware built into your wardrobe — and not before, because programmes differ between ranges.

That guarantee applies in addition to the statutory one, not instead of it.

The warranty sheet

A warranty sheet comes with the product. Keep it with the quote and the handover record: between them the three documents say what was ordered, what was installed and when it was accepted.

The handover record matters more than it looks. We sign it at the end of the installation and write into it everything either of us notices at the time — from a scratch on a front to a door that wants one more adjustment. What is written down gets put right; what was never mentioned is hard for either side to argue about a year later.

What the warranty does not cover

So that there is no misunderstanding, this too is said plainly. The warranty does not cover:

  • mechanical damage in use — knocks, scratches from sharp objects, damage while moving furniture;
  • damage from damp caused by the environment (wet clothes in a closed wardrobe, a flood, an unventilated room);
  • overloading — shelves sized for clothes and then loaded with books or tools;
  • third-party work — alterations, drilling through, or hardware added that we did not fit;
  • natural ageing of the material, such as a slight shift in the shade of a painted front in direct sunlight.

None of that means we cannot help. It means the work is a service job rather than a warranty claim.

Raising a complaint

Complaints are accepted by email at info@omara.si or by post. We reply within 8 working days.

To keep it quick, please include:

  • the quote or contract number (or the installation date);
  • a photograph of the fault, ideally close up and in context;
  • a short note of when it appears — on opening, in damp weather, after a few weeks.

With doors and drawers a great deal is a matter of adjustment rather than a fault: a modern hinge adjusts on three axes and a drawer runner adjusts for height and tilt. If a new wardrobe's doors do not line up neatly, that is normally settled by an adjustment on site.

Care: what you can do yourself

Cleaning surfaces. Wipe melamine panels and ABS edges with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Do not use scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, acetone or chlorine-based products. Clean painted fronts with a damp soft cloth only and dry them immediately.

Mirrors. Put glass cleaner on the cloth, not on the mirror — running down to the edge can damage the backing over time.

Damp. Chipboard does not like sustained damp. Do not hang wet clothes in a closed wardrobe, and after washing the floor let it dry before shutting the doors.

Runners and hinges. These need no lubrication. Wipe dust off the drawer runners once a year; that is all.

Shelf loads. Shelves are sized for clothes and bedding. If books or tools are going on them, say so beforehand — we then use a thicker board or shorten the span.

Every few years

Once a year or two, check:

  • that the doors still line up (if not, adjust the hinge with a screwdriver — the screws on the hinge work in three directions);
  • that the fixings for shelves and rails are still tight;
  • that the wardrobe is still level; in new build the floor can settle a little after the first season.

After the warranty period

We remain available afterwards for servicing and repairs, spare parts, upgrades (extra drawers, shelves, lighting) and adaptation when you move. Such work is not included in the contract price but can be arranged.

Next step

If you are considering a new wardrobe, start in the configurator or look through our designs. What we fit and why is covered in Why Blum and Materials.

Frequently asked

How long is the warranty on a fitted wardrobe?
Consumers have the statutory guarantee of conformity under ZVPot-1, ordinarily 24 months. Fitted hardware additionally carries the guarantee programme of its own manufacturer, which we state on the warranty sheet.
The doors do not line up. Is that a fault?
Usually not. Modern hinges adjust on three axes and doors sometimes need realigning after a few weeks of use. If you would rather not adjust them yourself, write to info@omara.si and we will arrange it.
What may I clean the fronts with?
A soft cloth and mild soapy water. No abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, acetone or chlorine-based products. Dry painted fronts immediately after cleaning.
How do I raise a complaint?
By email to info@omara.si or by post. Include the quote number or installation date, a photograph of the fault and a short description. We reply within 8 working days.
